Ventimiglia, an Italian border town, supermarket for Riviera residents looking for cigarettes at bargain prices, stands out for another specialty: the transit of migrants. Fleeing the horror of conflict zones or the brutality of dictatorships, thousands of young men, women and children find refuge in this seaside town and its surrounding mountains. To help them, many citizens, known or unknown, baker or retiree, princess or worker, anarchist or priest, mobilized. They collect clothes and food, demonstrate with refugees, denounce the illegality of police practices and many have to defend themselves in court. In this diary, Teresa Maffeis, local militant figure, and Aurélie Selvi, journalist, wish to pay tribute to them by telling the story of the brotherhood that these insurgents have been writing for five years.
