In 2000, to everyone's surprise, opponent Laurent Gbagbo won the elections in Côte d'Ivoire, a showcase for “Françafrique” since the time of Houphouët-Boigny. This historic and democratic victory will not be “accepted” by the former colonial power. At the cost of a military intervention, on April 11, 2011, Nicolas Sarkozy will install Alassane Ouattara in power and orchestrate, with Luis Moreno-Ocampo, the prosecutor of the International Criminal Court (ICC), the transfer of Laurent Gbagbo to The Hague. After seven years of detention and three years of trial during which the manipulations and wanderings of international justice have come to light, the hour of truth has come. Based on confidential documents, in particular between the French authorities and the ICC, the Franco-Ivorian author traces the true story of this merciless fight for the sovereignty of Côte d'Ivoire.
