Understanding feminism

Marie-Hélène Bourcier

The male/female dichotomy is not obvious. The feminist “we” is far from self-evident. Its definition changes according to currents and ideologies. Fighting against male domination, feminism can also defend the different expressions of gender and sexuality. By questioning the ideas defended by the different feminist currents and how they fit into the social landscape, the author specifies the direction in which they must unite if feminism wants to remain a historically fruitful movement.
