Rachid Nekkaz is one of the main opponents of the Algerian regime. Initiator of the Hirak, mass demonstrations which gave hope to the Algerian people between 2019 and 2021, he is today under house arrest after being imprisoned for 443 days.
In this book, Rachid Nekkaz recounts his extraordinary journey from his city in the Paris suburbs to the gates of the Algerian presidential election, acclaimed by tens of thousands of young people. However, nothing predisposed this pure product of French culture, passionate about Voltaire, to become the ambassador of a people oppressed and suffocated by an authoritarian regime which confuses opposition with betrayal.

The author
